Internet Marketing Tips: The Golden Rules For a Successful Blogging Schedule

Blogging has completely revolutionized the way our world gets, shares, and contributes knowledge and information to the general public – may be one of the most important technologies and tools ever created in human history.

It’s almost amazing to consider exactly how different our world has begun to view blogs in just the last few years. It wasn’t all that long ago that “bloggers” were ridiculed mercilessly on a regular basis, widely considered to be nothing more than long-haired antisocial people using the web to lash out at their “enemies”.

However, it’s impossible to become a recognized, influential, and important journalist (or business leader, for that matter) without having a blog today – and there may not be a more efficient way to create amazing influence than by diving headfirst into the world of blogging.

The Golden Rules For a Successful Blogging Schedule

A blogging schedule is a must to create real influence

All that being said, without a proper blogging schedule and a regular and consistent flood and flow of blogs it’s impossible to create a real following or any influence online.

Even if you’re able to create absolute masterpieces of information and publish them on your blog if there is not a right more recent as to the consistency of your releases you’re never going to develop a real and serious following. Without this following, you’ll be little more than a collection of “one-hit wonders”, never fully realizing all of the potentials you can tap into when you decide to become more consistent.

It doesn’t matter how often you post, it only matters that it’s consistent

The most important thing to take away from this article about blogging schedules is that there’s little difference between posting once a day, once a week, or even once every two weeks (though we would recommend you go any longer than that between posts) when it comes right down to it.

No, the most important thing you can do when looking to generate power and influence through your blog (after all, isn’t that the reason that we’re blogging in the first place) is to create a consistent pattern that your readers can rely on a regular basis.

The Golden Rules For a Successful Blogging Schedule

If you have condition your readers to get information on a daily basis and then decide to switch things up to a weekly posting, you’re going to throw a serious monkey wrench into the works and maybe destroy a lot of the goodwill that you’ve generated in the past.

Try to create a schedule that works for you (and whatever you do, continue to write daily so you never really lose the “edge” – even if you don’t plan to publish daily) and stick to it as best you can.

Another effective tool to create a real readership base is to have an email newsletter that publishes updates as to when new blog posts are being released – you can also use social media and a handful of other tools to do the same thing. Just again make sure that you are staying consistent and reliable across the board.

Blogging allows you to literally impact and influence the minds of hundreds of millions of people all over the globe with very little effort whatsoever, so don’t ignore its power. Create a blogging schedule that works for you and deliver, deliver, deliver.

Now it’s your turn!

  1. Hey Nate, I totally agree that if you want your blog to be read a schedule will help not only you but your readers. I imagine it would be like a favorite show not having a regular day and time. When would you know when to watch? I find it challenging to get a routine going. I think blogging from my cell phone would make blogging more convenient so I might be able to take your advice and blog to a schedule. Thanks for the tip!

Nate, on good weeks I post 2x weekly, other times I try to at least post 1x weekly but sometimes must go to 10 days. I don’t like to post just to post. I want it to be GOOD and useful to my readers. It’s harder to keep up writing and sharing and networking all at once and still working full time. I’ve gone premium w/Buffer to help that out recently. I’m finding I do better writing on weekends and turn off social sites while doing so.

      Hi Lisa,

Yes it can be overwhelming at times especially when you are not blogging full-time. Sometimes passive activities can be challenging because the ‘active’ activities will produce money up front and the ‘passive’ (blogging) will compound and make you money long-term. Yes, turning off your phone and staying off social media sites are good for clearing distractions. Appreciate your comments!

Thank you for the tips. I was wondering as some of us are doing the monthly challenge and might not blog as much afterwards, what is your best tip for keeping an audience after the challenge? Would it be best to ease down bit by bit or to stick to a regular routine afterwards, even if it is weekly?

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Kama,

I would say to just stick with it. The ‘challenge’ was designed for you to take action and to be consistent. While you are doing the ‘challenge’, you are also experimenting and dialing in with your target audience. Just know that you’re not blogging just to blog. This paves way for you to go out and take daily action after your ‘challenge’ is over. Stick with the ‘challenge’ for 30 days straight and just focus on this, you’ll reap the benefits never thought possible. Hope this helps!

      Hi Brook,

You are right. There is no real secret to blogging success. Just takes consistency, commitment and dedication! Thanks for the comments!

  5. Nischala says:

I’ve been blogging for more than 3 years, and I so agree with you. Consistency is key. I am now down to 1 post / week for all my blogs and I plan / work with an editorial calendar. Makes so much difference in the writing and reader experience. Loved your post

    • Nate Leung says:

That’s awesome Nischala! Sounds like you got your routine down pat! Thank you for the comments!

  6. I do daily posts. I like to keep my writing, whether it be my blog or my novels, on a schedule. It definitely helps me to get through “blocks” and keeps me focused.
I love you site btw. There is tons of info here. I’ll definitely be sharing.

Your article about “The Golden Rules For a Successful Blogging Schedule” was a very interesting post. It’s true when you say “blog consistently”, I never looked at it like that. But thank you for taking the time to share it with us, your work is really appreciated.

I just started a blogging schedule recently. It’s nice to prepare in advance, especially when i’m usually busy on the weekends and I sometimes can’t get online.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Sara,

Sure is! Always be pre-pared and be consistent. Know yourself and your schedule well and you’ll be able to have success with your blogging career. Thank you for the comments!

  9. Nate – I agree. I have been blogging since 2007 and the best way to lose subscribers is to be inconsistent with publishing. I normally publish 3 times a week, however; that changes when I participate in blogging challenges. I communicate that clearly with my audience and they respond positively.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Stephanie,

Being inconsistent is a great way to kill your blogging career. I agree with being able to be concise with your audience. Thank you for the comments!

Hello Nate. Consistency is really important. We have just launched our web site and blog and this is a good reminder about establishing a blogging pattern. We plan to blog daily and are building up to this over a period of time to establish the pattern.

  11. Lisa Gilbert says:

Hi Nate, I just started blogging with a great online company, but my biggest problem is finding what to blog about. They say you can blog about anything but it still has to be good content. I’m going to have to make a blogging schedule, maybe like twice a week so it gives me time to think and research some good content.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Lisa,

Yes that is a challenge for many people. It all depends on what niche you want to focus on. There’s no right or wrong way to pick one. But you do have to pick one. Once you do that, finding topics on what you’re passionate about is very easy to do. When you come up with ideas, be sure to jot them down on a piece of paper or on your phone. Never rely on your memory for good content. As far as blogging schedule, it goes with what I said above. Pick two days that you know you will not miss. Stick with those two days for the next 30 days and see how it works out for you. From that you can scale up and go from there. That would be a good place to start. Hope this helps you!

  12. Fantastic post Nate!!!! Always love your value my friend!!!

Hi Nate! I shared and PINNED your post because it is really wonderful in sharing the importance of blogging! I remember those years when blogging was more of the demon child trying to stir the poop rather than the great need for it today!

    • Nate Leung says:

Awesome. Thank you for pinning my content. I hope this helps you. Have a great week ahead. 🙂

    Hey Nate,

Love your site. Great and relevant articles. You’re a great example to a newbie like me. I’ve recently challenged myself to write 100 blog posts consecutively to be able to create that reliable schedule for my blog posting. Thanks!

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Greg,

Appreciate that my man. I know you can do it, if you put your mind to it. Thanks for stopping by bud! 🙂

  15. Hi Nate

I am afraid I am not to consistent on publishing. Life gets in the way and (so do broken bones) the days pass. Putting out nonsense just to fill a page to keep to a schedule is not what I want to do. I was up to trying to put out 4 in a month but I have had a bit of a set back the last couple of months. I know it is important and if I was making a living off of it I would surely crank out tons of information and posts. But I don’t want to lose my faithful readers so I try to come up with something interesting to fill the white space. Now that I am on the road to recovery I shall have to try and put out a bit more.

    Mary

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hello Mary,

You’ve always shown consistency. I believe that there’s no magic formula to how many times you should blog per day, weeks and months. As long as your consistent. So, if your magic number is 4 a month for now, then later down the line maybe 8 a month (2 per week) I think that’s all that matters. Your still getting a good amount of traffic and your content rocks! Thank you for the comments, Mary!

  16. pam schmidt says:

    Hi Nate!
I believe in the pattern of consistent blogging. Followers come to trust on your regular posts. I am always surprised when I find a blog where someone posts one time per month. Why bother?

    • Nate Leung says:

Exactly. No point if you’re going to post once a month. It’s the intention that matters. If someone is going to go in with no effort and they wonder why they are not getting results, then that’s why! Thank you for the comments!

  17. Hi Nate,

Good tips! As you know I prefer posting daily. Set the precedent to become a serious blogger. Post at least once daily to set up a successful blogging sked. Thanks Nate!

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Ryan,

Yes, my friend you are a blogger that most should strive to be. You’re consistent and dedicated. Thank you for the comments!

Great Internet Marketing tips on setting a blogging schedule Nate. This is a great looking post– love your use of the graphics. I learned something here– I am sure others will too.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Kristie!

Awesome. Glad you learned something while you’re here! 🙂

  20. Hi Nate,

Sorry for being late…though I’m glad am here to catch up now 🙂

Yes indeed, having a proper blogging schedule IS essential. I think more than anything else, it’s a commitment you make to yourself first, and then to your readers to put up a post on the days you set out to have your posts on. Earlier I was posting once a week, but when I knew I could manage twice, I changed it to twice a week. I do have Tuesday’s and Friday’s set out, but if there is a problem at home, I might just delay it by a few hours, and I think that’s understandable, isn’t it?

I guess with time, your readers begin to understand you and this schedule and it works well both ways. I am still trying to fix a scheduled time, but that seems like an uphill task, or perhaps once my kids are a little grown up and on their own, I’d be able to achieve that as well…..everything in time, isn’t it?

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

I’m really grateful to read such an interesting post.
I also think, without proper schedule we can’t even do a single work properly.
In case of blogging, we can not but have to consistent with our blog.
