Internet Marketing Tips: The 5 Step Plan to Having a Thriving Internet Marketing Business

Starting an Internet marketing business seems to be all the rage these days, but the truth of the matter is that most people have absolutely no idea where to start or what to sell when it comes right down to it.

Combine that with the literally hundreds and hundreds of different options out there (thousands, even) that you have to choose from when you’re deciding to create your Internet marketing business and we really talking about information overload at the root core.

Luckily, when you decide to take advantage of the five-step plan I’ve provided below to create a thriving Internet marketing business – not just any old Internet marketing business, but one that has the potential to completely change your financial future forever – you’ll be able to cut through all of the clutter and noise.

Let’s dive right in!

Internet Marketing Tips The 5 Step Plan to Having a Thriving Internet Marketing Business

Find a niche or industry that targets a specific market before doing anything else

The biggest – absolute BIGGEST – mistake that people make when looking to create an Internet marketing business is focusing on the wrong things at the wrong time. Before you go out looking for a product or something to sell, try to find a web designer or someone to create a logo, or absolutely anything else, you need to focus on finding a market. The size, scope, and rabid passion of your market will dictate whether or not you enjoy real success in the Internet marketing world more than anything else.

Understand EXACTLY what they’re looking for

Now that you found your target market, you want to dive as deep into the community as possible. You really trying to focus on their pain, what they would see as an ideal solution, and what kinds of products there already purchasing on a regular basis. From there on out, it’s a simple as pulling the different aspects of the market together to create the “ideal solution”. This allows you to create products and services that sell themselves all on their own.

Your advertising must stand out

This doesn’t mean that your marketing advertising needs to be confrontational, sloppy, or over the top – but that it does need to be outrageous enough to cut through all of the clutter and noise already out there in the marketplace. We are bombarded with nearly 3000+ marketing messages on a daily basis, and most of us have learned to tune out the noise. Unless your advertising and marketing is a bit outrageous, it’s going to fall into the background.

Focus on giving value to your target audience

Though you’ll definitely need to make sure that the other areas of your business are taking care of, your daily focus needs to be on helping people through your products and services, finding more people that can benefit from your product, service or opportunity. Find new ways to create products and services to offer. Literally nothing else matters in this kind of business, and you should also look into outsourcing some of the unimportant tasks.

Have fun with it

Last but not least, understand that Internet marketing is not brain surgery nor the search for curing cancer – it’s a fun, exciting, and amazingly lucrative opportunity that you will be able to take advantage of if you have fun with it.

It’s your turn!

  6. Hi Nate,

I dig each practical tip and the Fun tip caps it off! Unless you have fun the practical tips rarely work. Move out of the mechanical, step by step, stiff approach and start having real fun. Put your personality into your work.

    Thanks for sharing 🙂

The only tip I could really share here is about authenticity. Make sure that your business is an extension of something you love, otherwise, whats the point of it?

  8. Wow Nate! If anyone needs a road map to success, it’s right here! You it the nail on the head. Success in network marketing is simple (it may not be easy). The steps to success are simple.

Yes, they are simple but yet the consistency is what people struggle with. Thank you for the comments!

    Hey Nate,

    Hope all is well

Providing value is important, people don’t buy products necessary. They buy the benefits associated with the product “so to speak.”

    Regards,

Outsourcing of the less important stuff does release time for one to focus on the more important. That is an important component of a successful business instead of getting bogged down with the small stuff.

  11. Hey Nate,

Great steps to build a thriving internet marketing business. For anyone just coming in, this is the blog post they should definitely look into to build a strong, core foundation when just starting.

The thing that a lot of online marketers don’t teach is figuring out the wants and needs of their target market. This is a way of getting to know them and showing your concern for their needs. If they can feel that, then they’ll be more open to your offers!

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Sherman,

Yes, I agree. They don’t teach it. It’s all about getting in, and start targeting the world. The key is dialing in on a specific group. Great feedback! Thanks!

Absolutely great content. The focus on giving value to your content part spoke to me a lot which is why I recently rebranded and focus on things other than design.I have clipped this fantastic article to my evernote!

  17. Hi Nate, I have a lot of friends on facebook who have online businesses selling products, I have sent them your tips because I felt they are so right and so relevant. In this day and age it helps to be out there and amongst it. Soon I may have to create my own logo and brand name. Thank you.

  18. Ron says:

    Another great post Nate!

One important thing I’d like to add is to “stick to it”. I’ve seen so many people quite when it didn’t make them a millionaire in a week. Okay, that might be a little exaggerated, but it happens every day.

As you know it takes work, dedication and self-motivation, and most folks give up three feet before the gold.

People also need to find ways to keep themselves motivated. It’s not like you have a boss to hold you accountable, or a paycheck that’s on the line. SO different working for yourself.

I started way back in 1998 and my driving force was that I was SO sick and tired of working a job and what came with it. Was enough to get me going and keeping my going.

    • Nate Leung says:

      Hi Ron,

Most people who have never done this business want to be an over night sensation. It’s all about making progress every day, taking action, consistently over a period of time. Thanks for coming on here with your feedback. Much appreciated! 🙂

  19. One tip I would add Nate is consistency. Like you discussed in the article, there are a lot of opportunities for Internet Marketers. I would suggest that one stays with a program and stick out the learning curve versus jumping from one program to the other. Building a business is a long term strategy and your marketing efforts can be measured quarterly to see if they are providing the desired results. Great article.
